What is the purpose of Mardi Gras? I understand it’s the whole city of New Orleans coming together with food, drinks and in costume but I don’t understand the reasons behind this. From pictures I’ve seen it looks like fun, but on the other hand, it seems pretty scary. Can someone please explain to me the meaning of this celebration?
Has anybody ever really thought about what they would do if they won 256 million from the lottery? Do you really get hit by a bus the next day? I know I would quit my job, not tell anybody I won and just keep it to myself. I would need to work, well because I get bored being at home. And I know for sure I wouldn’t tell anybody because then I would have friends and family members coming out of the woodworks that I never even heard of. I’m not saying I wouldn’t help anybody, because I would. I’d just do it anonymously.
Now I’ve always heard the saying, “money doesn’t buy happiness”, and maybe to some degree that can be true, but to me, oh I know I’d be happy as hell!!!!!!
Did everybody hear that the hollywood writers are back at work today!!! Isn’t that the best news? I’m sooooooooo happy that the writers made a deal because i’m soooooooooo tired of watching reruns of my favorite shows such as CSI, CSI MIAMI and NY. I’m not saying they’re not good reruns, but come on you can only watch the same episode about 5 times before it gets old.
In my opinion, they deserve the money, because without them there would be no shows, movies, producers or celebrities. But in all reality its not only the writers who were out of jobs, it was other people as well, caters, cameramen, construction workers, so it affected many. Hopefully all these people are back at work today and new episodes are not far behind.
Peyton Manning is the proud older brother of Eli Manning who just led his team to a Superbowl win over the almost perfect season winning Patriots. It must suck for Tom Brady to have to wake up today and face his teammates, knowing he had a chance to win the game if he wouldn’t have been sacked about 4 times. Sorry Tom maybe next season.
Do you think celebrities get special treatment when it comes to breaking the law? I’ve watched on the news when they show Lindsey Lohan being arrested for drunk driving, Britney Spears driving with her kid on her lap and Nicole Ritchie driving on the wrong side of the freeway. These people can get away with everything when it comes to breaking the law. The most they get is 45 days in jail, now if that was me, I would get 45 months in jail. Why do they get special treatment? Is it because they have money? They’re human just like the rest of us, if they do something wrong, they should get the same punishment as a normal person.
Do you think that our Bakersfield Police Dept. handles situations by the book or do you think sometimes they overreact and tend to cause more of a problem? I believe that sometimes you’re going to get one that lets his job go to his head and reacts without thinking first, but I also believe in certain situations officers have to react first and ask questions later. After reading the article about the BHS situation one student said the officers provoked more violence then there was, I honestly don’t believe this is true. With adrenaline running, fists flying, and students coming from all different directions, officers sometimes have no choice but take action so that no one else gets hurt.
I was hoping San Diego would go to the superbowl instead of the Patriots. Not that I’m a fan of San Diego, I just don’t like Tom Brady. I feel like he has an ego problem because of his previous wins. He needs to realize hes not the only player on the team. Without his offensive line he wouldn’t be this great quarterback everyone seems to think he is. As you might already know, I’m going for the Giants.
